Fear of missing out. Trying to keep up or you don’t earn or deserve money/recognition/health/enlightenment, etc. Our bodies and especially our legs are trying to keep up with whatever it is what we are chasing. So let us take a moment to breathe and see things for whatever they are so we can stop chasing and start creating. Let’s miss out and don’t worry about it. Let’s move from FOMO to LOMO! Love of missing out!
Creating the illusion of lack is of course a known strategy to sell things, to manipulate you into action and decision making. This is also very much true in the spiritual world, not only as a strategy to sell us something, but also as something we do to ourselves.
We’ve all had them, the thoughts that you have to DO something or you don’t DESERVE the thing. You need to read spiritual books, watch mind-bending documentaries, meditate, breathe, yoga, do course x, listen, eat y, don’t eat z, run, walk, take a break, sing…or ‘you won’t become this enlightened 5D hyper quantum angel of the 12th dimension’.
It is such an amazing illusion we walk right into with our eyes open, ourselves included. There is such a fine line between passion and obsession. Where passion is doing something out of love in flow with the universe, obsession is passion fueled by fear. Fear to return to your old life, fear to fall back into patterns, fear of keep feeling down/depressed/crappy/ill, fear of having to keep dealing with health issues…
A negative affirmation you’ll probably recognise is “I must be doing something wrong, or else I would not be sick/depressed/having problems anymore. So I have to dig deeper and work harder to solve this”. This is foundational programming we are dealing with; Contribute or be a slacker. Be successful or you’re a failure. Don’t make mistakes. Obey…OR ELSE…punishment, shame and guilt. This is the slave-program and it can only go with love and respect for ourselves.
Sometimes it is easier to dive into obsession than to sit with the shame and guilt which arise when you are doing nothing. But taking a break or rest is not doing nothing. It allows you to feel and our bodies heal/grow/recover most and best in our sleep.
When was the last time you just stopped and enjoyed doing nothing?
This sign is a reminder to you that taking a break, taking care of yourself, sleeping, resting, doing nothing, staring at a wall, etc. is an essential step in growing. It also helps you to embody the trust that you do what you can, can’t miss the boat and that it is a good thing to sit, rest and feel. Allow yourself to “miss out”. So LOMO away!
